Alliances: Working Together to Constantly Improve
We have united with some of Australia’s leading design and construction firms to combine our experience, knowledge and people.
This integrated approach is known as an alliance model. Together, we will sustainably deliver our community’s needs into the future.
A shared commitment to innovation and a united effort will ensure we meet the challenges of climate change and drought, and fulfil the opportunities of today.
Alliances
Alliances allow us to provide the highest standards of service to the community.
Alliancing (a model used increasingly around the world) ensures that we will:
- Identify and unite the best in people and industry knowledge
- Innovate and achieve better outcomes
- Foster collaborative working relationships
- Deliver efficiencies by removing the need (and bureaucratic cost) for repeated tendering on a project-by-project basis
- Ensure a streamlined delivery process
Our alliances are built on:
- Openness and transparency
- Independent approval of expenditure
- Independent validation and cost reviews
- Transferring learnings and continual improvement
- Statutory reporting and ongoing review of performance
- Constructive behaviours
Major Challenges: Major Projects
From 2008 to 2013 we will be responsible for delivering over $3 billion in infrastructure projects to our community.
Melbourne Water’s teams will continue to play a central role in this delivery — our alliances will support this effort; having responsibility for almost half this amount.
Our Alliance Partners
Following a rigorous selection process, we have joined with the following alliance partners to deliver the Sugarloaf Pipeline Project and four bundled infrastructure works programs:
Water Supply Alliance
|
Improving, maintaining and expanding the water storage system and the water distribution network to ensure the provision of reliable, high quality water. | Baulderstone , Sinclair Knight Merz , United Group Infrastructure |
Sewage Treatment and Pump Stations Alliance
|
Maintaining and enhancing existing treatment processes for the continued provision of reliable, high quality and efficient wastewater treatment. | Baulderstone, United Group Infrastructure, MWH Australia, Beca |
Waterways Alliance
| Working to restore our rivers and creeks to good health. We will protect our natural waterways, improve water quality and address the effects of economic and population growth. In doing so we will achieve a net reduction in pollutants in our region. | Fulton Hogan, SMEC , EcoDynamics |
Pipelines Alliance
| Working to reduce the risk of flooding and sewage spills. | Fulton Hogan , Jaydo , GHD |
The Sugarloaf Pipeline Alliance
|
Delivering Melbourne's one third share of water resulting from water savings achieved through the $2 billion Food Bowl Modernisation Project to modernise irrigation in Victoria’s north. Visit the Sugarloaf Pipeline Project website. |
