The Freedom of Information Act 1982 ensures that everyone has access to documents in the possession of Victorian Government Ministers and State Government agencies. We are committed to complying with the provisions of this Act.
Making an FOI request
If you wish to gain access to Melbourne Water documents under the Freedom of Information Act, your application should be in writing and contain as much information as possible to enable identification of the relevant document/s.
It must also be accompanied by an application fee of $24.40 in a cheque made payable to Melbourne Water Corporation.

We will conduct a thorough and diligent search for documents and we will take all reasonable steps to identify the relevant material.
Please note, some documents in the possession of Melbourne Water contain material that is exempt from release pursuant to the Act.
Such exemptions include documents that:
- contain trade secrets
- affect legal proceedings
- affect personal privacy
- have been submitted to the Cabinet.
