This Policy applies to all Melbourne Water activities.

Background
Melbourne Water’s Health and Safety Policy supports our Vision of “working together to provide a sustainable water future”; in particular our commitment to provide “a safe, healthy and enjoyable working environment”.
Policy Statement / Procedure
Melbourne Water is committed to achieving a Zero Harm workplace; one in which no-one, including our contractors and others that may be affected by our activities, is hurt or suffers illness at work.
To do this Melbourne Water will:
- Always give health and safety first priority
- Ensure our Leaders are role-models in health and safety
- Enable people understand and are held accountable for their health and safety responsibilities
- Consult with people about health and safety issues
- Provide training to ensure everyone has effective skills to lead and work safely
- Proactively manage health and safety risks by identifying, assessing and controlling hazards
- Ensure we have an effective health and safety management system
- Measure our health and safety performance, and take action on observed trends
- Comply, as a minimum, with all health and safety legislative requirements. We will endeavour to exceed legislative requirements.
The responsibility of everyone in Melbourne Water is to:
- Take care relating to the health and safety of yourself and those around you
- Follow agreed health and safety procedures , and be willing to receive and provide constructive feedback
- Be actively involved in identifying, promoting and implementing initiatives that improve health and safety
- Be aware of the possible hazards in your workplace and act accordingly, including prompt reporting and, if possible, rectifying those hazards.
