Community Education Support Program
Melbourne Water supports organisations within the Port Phillip and Westernport region that educate the community and strengthen community relationships.
Who can apply
We’re looking to fund or provide in-kind support to community, industry and environmental organisations and schools within the Port Phillip and Westernport region.
Applications must be for education or community initiatives which support Melbourne Water’s vision of working together to create a sustainable water future where:
- our water supply is secure and of a high quality
- our waterways and bays are healthy
- diversity of habitats and wildlife species is protected and improved
- stormwater and treated wastewater is recycled or beneficially used

Support available
Melbourne Water has both funding and in-kind support available for community education groups.
Up to $5000 can be applied for to support projects (a breakdown of costs is required).
Applicants can also request in-kind support such as expert advice or use of our Stormwater Interactive Model and education materials.
How to apply
To apply, first read the guidelines then submit an application via email.
Applications should include the following:
- a concise outline and description of the project (including date, geographical area for the project and any proposed venues)
- an itemised list of support being requested including funding required for individual items as required (for example, funding, brochures and materials, speakers, banners etc)
- an explanation of how the project supports Melbourne Water’s vision of a ‘sustainable water future’
- a description of the audience demographic and the amount of people expected to be exposed to the project
- details of the benefits to Melbourne Water in providing support
- a plan for how will the project be promoted
- details of how the project will be evaluated and how progress/outcomes will be reported to Melbourne Water
- details of previous Melbourne Water funding, if any. If the funding support is for a recurring event, please provide historical information relating to the running and outcome of the event.
Application assessment
We review each application individually. Please allow up to 1 month for us to evaluate your application.
Due to the volume of applications, we are unable to support every request we receive.
