What does this table show?
Red indicates that at the time of testing, swimming and other primary contact activities are not advised due to elevated blue-green algae levels.
Green indicates that at the time of testing, blue-green algae levels are deemed acceptable for swimming and other primary contact activities.
* Victorian Government recommended maximum level for primary contact: 10mm3/L.
Like any open waterway or body of water, the Quiet Lakes - lakes Legana, Illawong and Carramar - are impacted by the surrounding environment.
Factors such as stormwater, nutrient levels, low water flows and warm weather can affect water quality by increasing blue-green algae and E. coli levels.
We regularly monitor blue-green algae and E. coli levels to provide residents with the latest information.

Melbourne Water conducts water quality monitoring at 136 sites along rivers and creeks in the Port Phillip and Westernport region.
