Melbourne Water is a water resource manager, providing water, sewerage and recycled water services to retail water businesses, and waterways and regional drainage services to the greater Melbourne community.
Water supply and sewage treatment charges and drainage rates generate our operating revenue of more than $500 million a year. This funds our operations and infrastructure projects including water, sewerage and drainage upgrades and water recycling schemes, as well as works to improve and protect rivers, creeks, wetlands and the bays.
In the context of climate uncertainty and drought, and our obligations to deliver environmental improvements, we must still ensure appropriate returns to our shareholder.
We are endeavouring to meet these challenging circumstances by focusing on business effciency, long-term planning and improved business performance and risk management, particularly in the face of climate change impacts. This is critical to achieving a sustainable water future.
